SUMO CUBE Bracket - Wood 27531
"I did not want to install a shelf with those awful looking L-Brackets. I ordered 27531 then went to Home Depot to get some 1" thick wood and found what is actually a step/stair that was 1" thick and 48" long with a rounded nose. Since the wood was longer than the bracket I removed the two end caps from the bracket so there would be a little overhang on each side. The 1" wood would not fit in the bracket slot (too fat) and the specs for the bracket says boards of 0.98 inches. Using a handheld sander and some medium grit sandpaper I sanded the length of the board on both sides from end to end just on the edge that needed to go into the bracket. I tested the fit at various times until enough material was removed that the wood just barely fit into the bracket with great tightness - but it fit. I mounted the bracket to the wall with long drywall screws into the studs. I jammed that wood into the bracket and it was very snug and tight thanks to the sanding along that edge. The result is a very sturdy shelf and I have no fear that it is going to fall or collapse. It worked out so well that I ordered a couple more to install in another room."
